Notice and Takedown

Bike Archive is operated by Hank Bicycle Company, LLC (Utah, USA). This page explains how to ask us to remove or correct content, and how to submit a formal notice of copyright infringement under the U.S. Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA).

General removal or correction requests

If you're a manufacturer, rights holder, or otherwise believe content on Bike Archive is inaccurate, infringes your rights, or should be removed, email removals@bikearchive.org. We take these requests seriously and aim to respond within a reasonable timeframe.

To help us investigate and act quickly, please include:

• The exact URL(s) of the page(s) in question
• A description of the content you're concerned about
• The reason for the request (inaccuracy, trademark/copyright concern, privacy concern, etc.)
• If applicable, evidence supporting your claim (e.g. proof of rights ownership, or a corrected source document)
• Your contact information, so we can follow up if we need clarification

Our process

We review each request individually. For data-accuracy concerns, we'll typically correct or remove the disputed information once verified. For trademark or copyright concerns, we'll evaluate the request against our Fair Use Policy and respond with our determination, or make the requested change where warranted.

DMCA Designated Agent

Hank Bicycle Company, LLC has registered a DMCA Designated Agent with the U.S. Copyright Office. To submit a notice of claimed copyright infringement or a counter-notification, contact:

Filing a DMCA infringement notice

Under 17 U.S.C. § 512(c)(3), a valid notification must be a written communication that includes substantially all of the following:

• A physical or electronic signature of the copyright owner, or a person authorized to act on their behalf;
• Identification of the copyrighted work claimed to have been infringed (or a representative list, if multiple works are covered by a single notice);
• Identification of the material that is claimed to be infringing and that is to be removed, with enough detail to let us locate it — ideally the exact URL(s);
• Your contact information, including address, telephone number, and email address;
• A statement that you have a good-faith belief that the disputed use is not authorized by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law;
• A statement, made under penalty of perjury, that the information in the notice is accurate and that you are the copyright owner or are authorized to act on the owner's behalf.

Send the notice to DMCA@bikearchive.org. If we remove or disable material in response to a valid notice, we will make a reasonable effort to notify the affected user.

Counter-notification

If you believe material of yours was removed or disabled by mistake or misidentification, you may send a counter-notification under 17 U.S.C. § 512(g) to DMCA@bikearchive.org. It must include substantially all of the following:

• Your physical or electronic signature;
• Identification of the material that was removed or disabled and the location where it appeared before removal;
• A statement, under penalty of perjury, that you have a good-faith belief the material was removed or disabled as a result of mistake or misidentification;
• Your name, address, and telephone number, and a statement that you consent to the jurisdiction of the U.S. federal district court for the judicial district in which your address is located (or, if outside the United States, any judicial district in which we may be found), and that you will accept service of process from the person who filed the original notice or their agent.

On receipt of a valid counter-notification, we may restore the material in 10 to 14 business days unless the original complainant notifies us that they have filed a court action seeking to restrain the allegedly infringing activity.

Repeat infringers

It is our policy, in appropriate circumstances, to disable or terminate access for users who are repeat infringers.

Good-faith disputes

We're an independent reference project, not a manufacturer's official source. We'd rather fix a mistake quickly than argue about it — if something's wrong, tell us and we'll look into it.
